Get Rid Of Carpenter Ants

Need to get rid of unknown ants cheap?

I've had these very tiny ants for a few months, there like a reddish brown color (i cant really tell there so small). I found it odd they survived the winter, then I found at least one of the colonies, under the kitchen sink cabinet. There's a whole bunch of food under there I guess. I'm not able to take the wood off from under it, because my landlord would freak. I tried some ant-bait from home depot, and it didn't work. It's like they don't even notice it
